Is this video trimmer free?

Yes, completely free with no limits. Your videos are processed entirely in your browser using FFmpeg.wasm — nothing is uploaded to any server.

What video formats are supported?

This tool supports MP4, WebM, and MOV (QuickTime) video files. You can also choose between MP4 and WebM as the output format.

Can I set exact start and end times?

Yes. Play the video to the exact moment you want, then click "Set to current" to capture the precise timestamp. You can also type exact values in seconds (e.g., 12.5) directly into the input fields.

Will trimming reduce quality?

The trimming process re-encodes the video using high-quality settings (H.264 CRF 23 for MP4, VP9 for WebM). For most use cases, the quality difference is negligible. The output is optimized for a good balance between quality and file size.

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens 100% in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your videos never leave your device, making this completely private and secure.

What is the maximum file size?

This tool accepts videos up to 500MB. Since processing happens in your browser, very large videos may take longer depending on your device's memory and processing power.

Can I trim just the beginning or end?

Absolutely. To trim the beginning, set the start time to where you want the video to begin and leave the end time at the full duration. To trim the end, keep the start at 0 and set the end time to your desired cutoff point.

How accurate is the trimming?

Trimming accuracy depends on the video's keyframe structure. Most videos encode keyframes every 1-2 seconds. The tool re-encodes the clip to ensure frame-accurate cuts at your specified start and end points.

Does trimming preserve audio?

Yes. The trim operation preserves both the video and audio tracks. Audio is re-encoded using AAC for MP4 output or Opus for WebM output to maintain quality.

Can I change the output format while trimming?

Yes. You can select either MP4 or WebM as the output format regardless of the input format. For example, you can upload a MOV file and export the trimmed clip as an MP4.
