Tips for Merging PDF Files

Check Page Orientation: Before merging, make sure all PDFs have the correct page orientation (portrait or landscape). Mixed orientations will be preserved but may look inconsistent when scrolling through the merged file.

Order Matters: Use the drag-and-drop reordering feature to arrange your files in the correct sequence before merging. It's much easier to get the order right now than to re-merge later.

Page Size Differences: If your PDFs have different page sizes (e.g., Letter vs A4), each page will retain its original dimensions in the merged file. This is normal and most PDF viewers handle it seamlessly.

Our free tool allows you to merge up to 10 PDF files at once. Each individual file can be up to 50MB in size. You can add files incrementally by clicking the upload area multiple times.

Will merging PDFs affect the quality of my documents?

No, when you merge PDF online with our tool, it maintains the original quality of every page. Text, images, fonts, and formatting are preserved exactly as they appear in the source files. No re-rendering or compression is applied.

Can I reorder the PDFs before merging?

Yes! After selecting your files, you can drag and drop them to arrange the exact order in which they'll appear in the merged document. The drag handle icon on the left of each file makes reordering intuitive.

Is my data safe when merging PDFs online?

Absolutely! All processing happens directly in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF files are never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service, ensuring complete privacy and security of your documents.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

Our free tool doesn't support merging password-protected or encrypted PDF files. You'll need to remove the password protection first using your PDF reader software (like Adobe Acrobat or Preview on Mac), then upload the unprotected files.

Can I merge PDFs with different page sizes?

Yes! You can merge PDFs that have different page sizes (e.g., Letter, A4, Legal). Each page retains its original dimensions in the merged file. Most PDF viewers handle mixed page sizes seamlessly.

Is there a page limit for the merged PDF?

There is no explicit page limit. The only constraints are the 10-file maximum and the 50MB per-file size limit. As long as your browser has enough memory to process the files, you can merge documents with hundreds of pages.

Can I merge PDFs on my phone or tablet?

Yes! Our PDF merger works on any device with a modern web browser, including iPhones, Android phones, and tablets. The interface is fully responsive. Simply open this page in your mobile browser and start merging.

Will bookmarks and links be preserved after merging?

Internal bookmarks and hyperlinks within each document are preserved. However, cross-document bookmarks or table-of-contents links will not automatically update to reflect the new page numbers in the merged file.

Can I merge scanned PDFs?

Yes, our tool works with any valid PDF file, including scanned documents and image-based PDFs. The content is merged exactly as it appears in the original files, whether it contains searchable text or scanned images.

How do I remove a file I accidentally added?

Click the red X icon on the right side of any file in the list to remove it. You can then add a different file using the upload area. The file list updates instantly.

Can I add the same PDF multiple times?

Our tool detects duplicate files based on name and size and will alert you if you try to add the same file twice. If you need to include the same content multiple times, rename the file before uploading it again.

Do I need to install any software to merge PDFs?

No installation is needed. Our PDF merger runs entirely in your web browser. There's no software to download, no plugins to install, and no account to create. Just open the page and start merging.
