Image Resizer FAQs
Common questions about resizing images
Is this image resizer free?
Yes, completely free with no limits. Your images are processed entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.
Will resizing reduce image quality?
Downscaling (making smaller) generally preserves quality well. Upscaling (making larger) can cause blurriness since the browser must interpolate new pixels. For best results when upscaling, keep the increase under 200%.
What does "lock aspect ratio" do?
When locked, changing the width automatically adjusts the height (and vice versa) to maintain the original proportions. This prevents your image from appearing stretched or squished.
What size should I use for social media?
Instagram posts: 1080x1080. Instagram stories: 1080x1920. Facebook/OG images: 1200x630. Twitter: 1200x675. LinkedIn: 1200x627. YouTube thumbnails: 1280x720. Use our presets for quick access to these sizes.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens 100% in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
Can I resize to exact pixel dimensions?
Yes. Use the "Pixels" mode to enter exact width and height values. You can lock the aspect ratio to maintain proportions, or unlock it to set any custom dimensions.
What is the maximum image size?
This tool accepts images up to 20MB and can resize to a maximum of 10000x10000 pixels. Since processing happens locally, very large images may take a moment.
How do I resize for email?
For email images, 600-800px width is recommended for maximum compatibility across email clients. Most email clients don't support images wider than 600px without scaling. Keep file size under 1MB for fast loading.
Does resizing affect file size?
Yes. Making an image smaller reduces file size (often significantly). Making it larger increases file size. The output format also matters — WebP produces smaller files than PNG or JPG at similar quality.
What browsers support this tool?
This tool works in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It uses the HTML5 Canvas API which has universal browser support.
