What are inbound webhooks?

Inbound webhooks allow external applications to trigger image generation by sending HTTP POST requests to a unique URL. When an event happens in your app (like a form submission or order placed), it sends data to Templated, which generates the image and returns the URL in the response.

How do I create a webhook?

Go to the Webhooks section in your Templated dashboard, click "Create Webhook", select a template, and configure field mappings. You'll get a unique URL that you can use in any app that supports webhooks.

How do I map nested JSON fields?

Use dot notation to access nested fields. For example, if your incoming data has response.answers.fieldId.content, you can map that path directly to a template layer. This works with any level of nesting.

What apps can I connect with webhooks?

Any app that can send HTTP POST requests can use Templated webhooks. Popular options include form builders (Typeform, Google Forms, Tally, Yay! Forms, Jotform), CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce), e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce), and automation tools (Make, Zapier, n8n).

Is the webhook response synchronous?

Yes! When you call the webhook, Templated generates the image and returns the render URL directly in the response. This makes it easy to use the generated image immediately in your workflow.

How do I secure my webhook?

Each webhook has a unique secret embedded in the URL. Only requests to that exact URL will trigger the render. You can also regenerate the secret at any time if needed.
